Cereal husks

What is husk

The husk, also called chaff or husk, is a by-product of cereal processing and consists of the set of bracts, also called glumellae or glumettes, that enclose the grain.

Rice husk, or pulone, is the waste resulting from husking paddy, the rough rice after threshing. It is brown-beige in colour, with a hard consistency, much stronger than wheat; it is light and voluminous, its density varies between 132 kg/m³ and 140 kg/m³, and it is practically rot-proof and impervious to insects.

Recycling husks

In order to promote the recycling of husk and the circular economy in general, we are able to offer our customers solutions for the production of products ranging from the building sector, such as insulating coat panels in various thicknesses and insulating load-bearing bricks, to the furniture sector.
